“The Role of Media in Safeguarding National & Cultural Heritage”
62nd ABU General Assembly and Associated Meetings
11–15 September 2025 | Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
As the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union prepares to convene its 62nd General Assembly and Associated Meetings in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia hosted by MNB, we extend an open invitation to all members and partners to join a timely and essential conversation on “The Role of Media in Safeguarding National & Cultural Heritage.”
In an era of rapid globalization and digital transformation, the responsibility of media extends beyond information delivery. Broadcasters need to play a vital role in preserving languages, traditions, and cultural narratives that define the soul of nations. As storytellers, educators, and record-keepers, broadcasters across the Asia-Pacific region are uniquely positioned to ensure that our diverse cultural legacies are not only preserved but meaningfully passed on to future generations.
Set against the backdrop of Mongolia’s rich nomadic history and enduring cultural heritage, this year’s theme calls us to reflect on how media can serve as both a guardian of tradition and a bridge to innovation. From indigenous knowledge systems to archival preservation, and from cultural programming to regional cooperation, the 2025 General Assembly will explore how public service values, innovation, and collaboration can empower media organizations to protect and promote the unique identities of our diverse societies—ensuring that heritage is not only remembered, but also revitalised for future generations.
Join us in Ulaanbaatar as we engage in this vital dialogue—where tradition meets technology, and the past finds new expression in the future of broadcasting.
